The Lohja museum

Lohja Museum was founded in 1911. The museum is situated in the old vicarage. The area has been carefully restored, a large park and a herb garden surround the buildings.

There are ten manors in Lohja area. The most famous is manor Kirkniemi, which was once owned by field marshal Mannerheim. The culture of the manors and the gentry is presented in the main building.

Lohjan museum was founded in 1911. The Museum is situated in the vicarage area. A carefully restored, large park and a garden with herbs surround the buildings.

In the pedagogy of Lohja (1769), the nature and the prehistory of the Lohja region and the development of the inhabitation are presented. Among other things, a model presenting the center of Lohja as it was in the beginning of the century, can be seen.

In the attic of the cowhouse you will find a collection of horsedriven vehicles, mainly from Vaanila manor.

The cottage of the dairymaid consists of a kitchen and one room, furnished like the homes of farm hands in the 1910´s and the 1920´s.

In the loft there is a storehouse for food, another for flax and a bedroom. In the storehouse by the gate art exhibitions are arranged during summertime.
